Overview & Responsibilities We are seeking an expert Welder to join our state-of-the-art facility in the KEZAD Free Zone, Abu Dhabi. This role is dedicated to recommending and implementing specialized welding protocols that meet both company (Elliott) requirements and customer specifications for a wide range of turbomachinery. You will support the service and manufacture of turbines, compressors, pumps, gear boxes, and all associated supporting equipment. As a senior technical authority on the shop floor, you will be expected to perform complex plan layouts and unusual welding operations in a safe and timely manner. This position requires a professional who can plan and oversee their own work with very minimal supervision or feedback, while actively helping to train and develop other employees within the department. Job Responsibilities The Welder is responsible for high-precision fabrication and complex repairs, ensuring that safety and quality are prioritized at all times. Technical Welding & Repairs Specialized Processes: Gain and maintain Elliott certifications in welding processes including TIG, MIG, submerged arc, and heliarc. Diaphragm Repairs: Perform expert weld repairs on diaphragms using both Inconel and stainless steel. This includes work on partitions, split-lines, side walls, seal faces and fits, set-backs, ledge blocks, and crush pins. Material Versatility: Execute welding operations on both ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Secondary Operations: Perform stress relieving and non-destructive testing (NDT) according to strict engineering specifications. Layout & Planning: Execute complex plan layouts and perform non-standard welding operations to meet unique customer needs. Equipment, Rigging & Maintenance Advanced Machinery: Utilize heating and cutting torches, plasma cutting, cut-off saws, and steam cleaners. Hand Tools: Operate power tools such as drills, grinders, and other necessary equipment with precision. Rigging & Lifting: Demonstrate advanced knowledge of lifting, rigging, crane, and forklift operations to move heavy turbomachinery components safely. Work Area: Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work environment at all times. Documentation, Quality & Leadership Technical Interpretation: Read and comprehend complex engineering drawings, sketches, work scopes, and verbal instructions. Quality Documentation: Understand and process critical documentation, including inspection reports, photo logs, and hold tags. Measurement: Utilize required measuring devices with advanced accuracy. Leadership & Training: Help train hourly employees in weld processes and procedures; display a positive attitude and teamwork orientation. Operational Continuity: Document and communicate actions, irregularities, and continuing needs to maintain continuity between work shifts. Continuous Improvement: Evaluate experimental procedures and recommend changes or modifications for better efficiency and production adaptability. Professionalism: Represent the company professionally when working with both internal and external customers. Qualifications and Skills Education: High School Diploma or Equivalency. Professional Experience: 8–10 years of experience specifically with rotating turbomachinery (turbines, compressors, and pumps). Technical Mastery: Advanced TIG and MIG welding capabilities. Advanced rigging and lifting capabilities. Advanced measurement and layout capabilities. Strong background in welding/fabrication concepts, practices, and procedures. Core Competencies: Ability to work with very minimal supervision or feedback. Proficiency in using appropriate equipment, tooling, drawings, and specifications to perform primary functions. Commitment to updating job knowledge through educational materials, training, and technical publications. Base Location & Work Schedule This is a full time, on-site permanent position based out of our Repair Facility in KEZAD Free Zone, Abu Dhabi. The world turns to Elliott.
