Job Summary
The Credit Facilities Manager is responsible for leading the organization’s credit risk management function by developing and enforcing credit policies, evaluating credit applications, monitoring credit exposure, and ensuring compliance with approved credit procedures. The role holds the final authority for approving or declining credit applications within the established risk framework and provides strategic guidance to business units on credit-related matters. The job holder also oversees the credit team, optimizes resources, and supports sound business growth through effective credit risk management.
Key Responsibilities
Credit Policy & Risk Management
Develop, implement, and continuously enhance credit policies and procedures in line with business objectives and risk appetite.
Define and assign appropriate credit limits for business units and customers based on risk assessments.
Recommend improvements to credit policies, procedures, and supporting information systems.
Monitor overall credit exposure across the organization and provide timely reporting to management.
Identify emerging risks, warning signals, and potential areas of concern, recommending corrective actions as required.
Credit Assessment & Approval
Evaluate and process customer credit applications in accordance with established credit policies and procedures.
Exercise final approval authority for accepting or declining credit applications within delegated limits.
Conduct periodic reviews of customer credit limits to ensure adequacy and alignment with changing business conditions.
Ensure customer master data and credit records remain accurate, complete, and up to date.
Governance & Compliance
Conduct regular reviews and audits to ensure compliance with credit policies and procedures.
Investigate deviations and implement corrective measures where required.
Maintain effective controls to safeguard the organization’s financial interests and minimize credit losses.
Business Partnership & Stakeholder Management
Collaborate closely with business units to resolve customer credit issues, disputes, and credit limit allocations.
Provide expert advice and guidance on customer creditworthiness and risk management practices.
Share industry insights and market intelligence to support informed business decisions.
Team Leadership & Development
Lead, coach, and develop the credit team to ensure high performance and operational excellence.
Ensure field visits are conducted jointly with business units to assess customer profiles and support credit decisions.
Review and approve customer assessment reports submitted by the team.
Optimize team resources, workloads, and processes to enhance productivity and service delivery.
Candidate Requirements
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or a related discipline.
Professional certification in Credit Management, Finance, Risk Management, or Accounting (e.g., CICP, CFA, CPA, ACCA) is preferred.
Experience
8–12 years of progressive experience in credit management, credit risk, finance, or related fields.
Minimum 3–5 years of leadership experience managing credit teams.
Proven experience in credit policy development, credit analysis, customer risk assessment, and credit limit management.
Experience working within a diversified or multi-business-unit environment is advantageous.
