Job Summary

Job Purpose
The Maintenance Engineer (Civil) is responsible for ensuring that buildings, architectural assets, and external areas are maintained in a safe, functional, and aesthetically acceptable condition. The role ensures compliance with KAUST standards, specifications, applicable building codes, and maintenance best practices. The position also monitors maintenance quality, conducts inspections and audits, assesses asset conditions, and recommends corrective and preventive actions.
Key Responsibilities
Monitor the quality of civil and architectural maintenance works performed by service providers.
Conduct inspections and audits of existing facilities, ongoing maintenance activities, and completed works to ensure compliance with approved standards and specifications.
Participate in construction inspections, project handovers, walkthroughs, snagging, and verification of rectification works.
Audit preventive maintenance programs and ensure planned inspections and maintenance activities are completed as scheduled.
Audit reactive maintenance work orders, identify recurring issues, and recommend corrective and preventive measures.
Conduct condition assessments of civil and architectural assets and recommend repair, refurbishment, or replacement as required.
Review maintenance plans, task lists, failure modes, failure codes, and causes, and recommend improvements.
Monitor PM/RM/CM work orders and support initiatives to reduce maintenance backlogs.
Conduct incident and failure investigations, perform root cause analysis, and recommend actions to prevent recurrence.
Prepare inspection, audit, condition assessment, and maintenance reports and provide technical recommendations for facility improvements.
Ensure maintenance activities comply with applicable KAUST standards, specifications, building codes, and industry best practices.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, or equivalent.
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in building maintenance, civil/architectural inspections, audits, construction, or facilities management.
Experience in design, construction, quality inspection, project handover, and snagging is desirable.
Experience with maintenance management systems/CMMS such as SAP or Maximo is desirable.
Technical & Professional Competencies
Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
Good knowledge of building construction, architectural finishes, civil works, and maintenance practices.
Working knowledge of applicable building codes, standards, and specifications.
Ability to conduct inspections, audits, condition assessments, and root cause analysis.
Ability to perform mid-level data analysis, including auditing, assessing, deducing, and drawing conclusions.
Familiarity with USGBC LEED requirements is desirable.
Excellent written and spoken English.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and reporting skills.
