Welding & Fabrication – Heavy Equipment Components
Carry out welding, cutting, and fabrication on mobile plant components such as: Buckets, trays, booms, arms, chassis, guards, and wear plates.
Repair cracks, worn edges, and structural damage on equipment parts.
Conduct bucket reline, rebuild, and refurbishment work as per maintenance schedules.
Operate welding, cutting, and grinding equipment safely and efficiently.
Read and interpret technical drawings, service manuals, and job specifications.
Preventive & Corrective Maintenance
Support planned maintenance activities and field repairs on heavy machinery.
Diagnose and assess the extent of wear or damage on components.
Remove and replace worn parts using welding, cutting, and fitting techniques.
Collaborate closely with fitters and mechanics to complete equipment overhauls.
Ensure quality of repairs aligns with OEM and site standards.
Safety & Compliance
Follow all site safety procedures, including Permit to Work and Lock Out–Tag Out (LOTO).
Use appropriate PPE and welding protection at all times.
Maintain a clean and organized work area in the workshop and field.
Report hazards, near misses, and incidents in line with company procedures.
Comply with environmental and waste management practices.
Quality Control & Reporting
Conduct visual inspections and measurements to verify repair quality.
Complete job cards, repair logs, and maintenance reports accurately.
Support continuous improvement in welding and repair standards.
Provide feedback to supervisors on recurring equipment issues or improvements needed.
Qualifications
National Certificate in Fabrication Engineering, recognized Boilermaker trade certificate or equivalent.
Proven experience in welding and fabrication on heavy mobile equipment (e.g., excavators, dump trucks, loaders, graders, dozers).
Proficiency in welding techniques (e.g., SMAW, MIG, TIG) and use of cutting equipment.
Ability to read technical drawings and follow OEM repair standards.
Basic knowledge of safety and maintenance procedures in mining or construction.
Minimum 5 years of experience in structural welding and fabrication, preferably in a mining or heavy industrial environment, or relevant experience with EPSA Group.
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced welding certifications or heavy equipment rebuild experience.
Experience working with wear packages, liners, and structural reinforcements.
Familiarity with maintenance planning systems or CMMS.
First Aid or basic HSE training.
Defensive driving or equipment movement training.
